About Us

Eden Cake, LLC originally started as Kosher Confections in the fall of 2001. As the mother of two young children at the time, Rachelle Ferneau, Pastry Chef/Owner, sought to develop a new outlet for her creative energies and turned to her lifelong love of baking. Rachelle has had a passion for baking since she was a young girl, beginning with her first real coffee cake in the sixth grade. As business took off, Rachelle discovered that a void existed with respect to fine pareve pastry in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, and she made it her mission to perfect the art of fine pareve pastry for enjoyment with any meal.

Over the years and between the births of her third and fourth children, Rachelle has worked diligently on expanding and perfecting her pastry skills, and has studied with pastry chefs from the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Rachelle has experimented and developed original recipes and has tested them repeatedly until they were perfected. The result? Superior, innovative, upscale desserts, made to order using only the freshest and highest quality kosher ingredients, from scratch in the old-school style, with love, and so good you’ll truly forget they are pareve.

In the fall of 2007 Eden Cake was established as the next logical step, after being awarded kosher certification by the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington. Our philosophy is based on a positive can-do attitude and a passion for providing the best, highest quality, and most delicious dessert possible. We offer something to suit every palate and every occasion, from fresh cookies waiting for your children as they come home from school, to the most elegant dessert buffet and all occasions in between: Shabbat dinners, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, parties and get-togethers of all kinds. Every dessert is baked fresh to your custom specifications (e.g. no nuts). In a fast-paced, cake-from-a-box society, we believe that investing the time and energy in producing a handcrafted dessert is well worth the effort. The results speak for themselves.
